This little peanut really made us work for pictures. She was not interested in being put down. Thankfully a little milk, a few diapers, some time and creativity all paid off when she gave in and went to sleep. For not even being a week old, she gave up a good fight! Here is my newest client. I have had the pleasure of watching this little man grow from a curious baby to a busy toddler. He is so adorable...and silly, too! He was completely in his zone showing off and having fun for the hour I was with him. As long as we played peek-a-boo, made silly sounds or threw a ball, we had his full attention....at least as full as it gets for toddlers. Anyways, here is his sneak peek. Enjoy!

A morning on the farm....

I absolutely love this family! I always feel so lucky to have the clients I have, but there is a special place in my heart for the families with three boys. I can see what I have to look forward to as my little guys grow. I love watching them all interact and how much they all love their mama :-) Anywho, I know that Katie has been very patiently waiting for this, so I will keep my words short.

We started out with a little extended family fun. This is Katie's dad, step-mom, brothers and then all of her boys (Chad included ;-p).

This one only seemed appropriate to show with a seventies edit!

This is Katie and Chad's oldest boy...he is so much like my oldest and just as good looking!

Here is the middle man...I can only hope that Camden turns out as sweet as this guy.

And for the littlest guy who is no longer a baby.

I was so afraid that I did not get any good shots of this monster, but am now finding out that I have more of him than anyone else. Since I wasn't sure what I had of him, we spent a little time towards the end playing around with animal sounds and I was lucky enough to get this one. How cute is he...and how about those eyes?!?!

We added grandma for a couple at the end. Right when they sat down, the wind went CRAZY. I love everything about this picture though. I am glad I got it!

I had another wonderful two year old to play with last week. I have photographed this cutie a few times already and she is always so much fun to be around! We had planned on meeting outside, but do to the rain, we met in the studio. We did find some time to jump in puddles at the end though and boy did she have a good time! I have truly watched this little girl grow from behind my camera. I have had the pleasure of photographing her 7 times I believe in her 2 years of life! She is so adorable and has such a great personality. It was a bit cold outside, so we started inside her new house...but were able to move outdoors towards the end to finish off her session. Here are a few of my favorites from our morning!

As much as all parents love pictures of their child's smiling face, but I prefer the other faces they make! Here are some of the many faces miss Savy loves to make.

My busy weekend

Along with two wonderful sessions this weekend (their sneak peaks will be posted right after this one) I also took my family to the pumpkin patch and the apple orchard. We always get to each at least once a year and with how the weather is going, we may only go once this year. It was cold, but we had fun! We also stopped along the way to take some family pictures with some balloons I had from a session. Here are some pictures from our busy weekend!

A first for me...

I love photographing new things in new environments. When I get asked to meet somewhere new for a session, I always jump on the chance.

I had that chance this past weekend. I was asked to photograph a women and her horse. It was awesome!

I did learn a few things though....
1. Guys listen better when mom is around (this is true for human's and horses.)
2. Horses can be as stubborn (if not more stubborn than) my two year old!
3. Farms are beautiful.
4. Cows are loud!

Oh yeah, I had a lot of fun processing these. I did not really pick any in color to show here, but have them in color and the vintage/black and whites.

I love when I get contacted by expecting parents. Pregnancy is such an exciting time in a life and, although it feels like it lasts forever, it really is only for a short time! I always get excited when I know I have a maternity session coming up, but I get even more excited when I know I get to watch their family grow after baby decides to break out of his/her comfy, compact surroundings.

I had the pleasure of meeting this set of parent's-to-be this past weekend. Mom is due on Halloween and lucky me...I get to photograph baby not only as a newborn, but for its' first year of life!!!!! I can not wait! Anyways, enough talking. Here is a sneak peak into our studio time together.

I think the next two are two of my all time favorite maternity portraits!

My mom and I have talked about getting a picture of her and my step-dad for Christmas cards for years now and have never actually done it. I had to set up my studio and wanted to check my lighting, so I had them step in front for a couple of shots. I am so glad I finally was able to get an updated photo of just the two of them!

I was so worried about my brother's wedding, but I am happy to say that we all made it through perfectly...and with great pictures! Right now they are happily bumping along on a train to Montana. I wanted to get a sneak peak up since I am all of a sudden crazy busy with sessions...and I know they (along with our families) are antsy to see some from their special day.

Let me tell you, next to my wedding I have never been to a ceremony/reception that was more focused on the actual couple. Every detail was about them right down to the awesome s'mores at every table of the reception! U actually found out that Chuck, Rachel and some special friends handmade the candle holders with branches from their yard! Enough with the babble though...onto the pictures. I think this is the largest peak I have every posted so be prepared!

My first session after having our newest bundle was with a family I met about a year ago. These two kiddos are absolutely gorgeous! For being 2 and 4, they did very well. They actually remind me quite a bit of my two older boys. They have a lot of the same behaviors...just without the crazy cute curls! I can't wait to see if the new addition that mom is baking will have the same cute curls and amazing eyes!

We had our newest little man on Saturday, August 29 at 5:28am. He is absolutely perfect...he looks just like his brother's did. Here are a few pictures from the hospital. I have not done his newborn pictures at home yet, but plan on it one day this week. I will share them once they are taken.

I LOVE his spikey hair! It sticks straight up....all over!

This show just how excited he is to be the little brother....lol

and this picture will always be special to me. My grandpa is not doing to well most of the time and I am so thankful he got to meet our last little guy. He always looks so proud when he holds a new little one.

I was so glad to find an email from this little cuties mom. I just finished up a first year plan and was so happy to have another client sign up. It is so fun to watch these children grow right in front of my camera! It helps that I absolutely love newborns. They take some patience and time, but they are always so worth it in the end. This little guy did not want to sleep at the beginning, but once he was out....he was OUT! We were able to get some wonderful pictures!

that this little peanut is already one! She was part of my first year plan so this is not the first time she has been on my blog. She actually has been posted on here 6 times total I believe. This was the first time we met at her house though. So, here is little miss Kylee in her garden.

It has truly been a pleasure watching your little girl grow this year. Thank you for allowing me to help capture her ever changing personality and look. She is such a sweet girl and has the four of you to thank for it. I hope to see you all back again soon...maybe even with a new addition :-)

I met this family last year (well everyone except dad that is). I was very happy to hear back from them again this year and that dad was included! I was surprised to get group pictures of all of them...smiling and looking at me! Their youngest just turned two and was the easiest out of the group I think. He did a spectacular job!! My maternity "session"

I have been putting off taking my own maternity portraits because self portraits are a lot of work and not a whole lot of fun to do! I have been thinking that I would do them every night this week, and then my jammies would call my name and the idea would be pushed off until the next day. Well, last night I got home, got the boys in bed, put my jammies on and remembered that this baby is going to come out one day soon and I almost have no pictures to proof he grew in my belly. So, I set up my lights, grabbed a couple backdrops and a few random things to wear and off I went. They are by no means perfect, but they will do. I had fun editing them. I did some pretty funky things and did find a favorite or two. I still plan on getting a couple with all of my boys, but at least I have SOME of my belly all big and bulging!

I really debated on whether or not to post this one, it shows quite a bit of me, but I do think a pregnant body is something to be captured as a whole. It really is tastefully done and is something I wish more mom's were okay with. It was pretty difficult to get the photo I wanted with only 10 seconds to get from the camera to where I needed to be, but I think I did an alright job.

I had my 35 week appointment yesterday and found out that all of the contractions I've been having are at least doing something. It may be slow, but at least my body is doing what it needs to do. I am 50% effaced and he is at a -1 station. I was told to just let the contractions come when they want and not to worry about stopping them anymore!

Well, we are back from my brother-in-law's wedding! It was a beautiful event that I am very glad I was able to attend! I did not take a ton of pictures, but definitely got a few keepers. It was a little strange being there and not having to worry about getting "the shot." Anyways, one of the highlights for me was seeing my hubby in a tux for the first time ever! I am still glad that he wore a kilt for our wedding, but if I had known he would look THAT good in a tux, I may have had a little harder time deciding on what to do with the guys in our wedding :-)

On a side note, I have learned that I need to stay off of my feet more now. We ran around all day yesterday and by 10pm I was having a ton of contractions. Thankfully we were not far from our hotel. Once I was able to lay down and drink some more water, they slowed down a lot. I have had a few again today, but NOTHING like last night. This little man needs to make it until this Wednesday at least so I can have him at our hospital with our midwife! I would love to meet him early, but I would prefer to get to take him home with me!

Along with expecting our third son within the next month, we also have two big weddings to be a part of yet this summer. The first is this weekend. My brother-in-law (my hubby's twin actually) is getting married on Saturday and my hubby is of course in the wedding. I was going to be their photographer...but that was before we planned our next little one and before they had planned their wedding date. I get to actually sit and watch this time around..with no children mind you. They are going with nana and papa to a birthday party for two of my nieces. Now I don't remember the last wedding I just sat and enjoyed. I will have my camera with me and I'm sure I'll have some pictures to share after we get back. Then next weekend is our first anniversary. I don't know what all we will do, but it should be fun. We are excited to just have some time to be the two of us before we become a family of 5!!!

Now, the last wedding (and the main reason for this post) is my brother's. Their wedding date is at the end of September and I will be shooting it since my little man WILL be coming before the end of September! You have seen them a few times on my blog and their daughter, Greta, has been on here a number of times on her own as well. This is the first time I have ever shown just the two of them off. They are quite the cute couple and I can't wait to be a part of their special day! Here is a sneak peak at our afternoon at Whitewater.

While my aunt, uncle and cousins were in town a couple of weeks ago, I took one of my cousins out to get a start on her senior pictures. It is so hard to believe that she is graduating! I remember helping my dad build her swing set when she was around 3 and that seems like just yesterday. Makes me feel a little old.... Anyways, here is a sneak peak into our afternoon together.

Laura and her sister(Katie) have turned into amazing young women and I am so lucky to not only know them, but call them family. I will feel like one great parent if my kiddos turn out half as great as these girls have. Congrats Jim and Cindy on raising two unbelievable young women. This little man came into the studio last weekend and was full of personality and smiles. It is with kiddos about this age that I always realize how lucky I am to have a fast camera! He is almost one and walks everywhere which always makes studio sessions interesting, but he loved chairs! We just brought out new things to sit and climb on and he was willing to look and smile :-)

I have photographed little miss Kylee quite a few times and she has refused to really show me her smiles....until now. We did her 9 month session a few days ago at a local park and she did an AMAZING job! She smiled non-stop and was such a little character. I had the great pleasure of meeting a wonderful couple last week. They are expecting their first together in about 2 weeks. We had a great time playing with my new lights and they both did such a great job. They are both so good looking, it would be hard to get a bad picture of them together!

I had the pleasure of seeing little miss Savannah again this past weekend. She has grown so much since the first time I met her a little over a year ago. This is her 6 time being in front of my camera, and she gets cuter everytime! After warming up for a little while, she finally let her silly side show. My boys

I FINALLY got my studio lights in. I gave up my studio space to make room for our new baby, and when I did that, I ordered my lights so I could still do set-ups when needed. I am hoping to do more on location sessions, but know that some people really love studio shots. I was happy that my lights showed up last night and was antsy to set them up today. So...I decided to get some new shots of my boys. It has been awhile. They both have a serious case of PCS (photographer's child syndrome) and hate to see my camera pointed in their direction, but am happy to say that it went very well! I even came out with some great pictures to fill the space on my bare wall. I plan on printing some of these very large and I can't wait to see them!

Here are a couple of each boy. Camden first. This little stinker is almost two (22 months) and has recently fell in love with yelling "no" when asked any question. He also never smiles when I try to get him in the studio. I lucked out today and was able to get some real Camden smiles. It took a lot, but he gave up some great money shots!!

Now Caidan's turn. I can't believe he is almost 6! He is growing up so fast and would much rather give the camera attitude shots than smiles. Thankfully for me..he does them both VERY well! We will start with smiles (and his gorgeous eyes)!

I have to share one more thing before being done with the blog for the night. Shortly after Camden's mini session (I guess it was about 4 hours) Camden was climbing on his brothers bed and slipped. He bonked his little cheek and ended up with quite the bruise! Good thing we took his pics when we did or they would have been postponed!

This was right after it happened, but it has since gotten quite a bit darker. Poor guy! I'm hoping he learns not to climb....probably just wishful thinking, but a mom can dream, right?

These two little ones were so good during their session. They were 7 weeks old and both actually slept for at least part of the session (never at the same time...but still). Their big brother was also a big helper! He liked to kiss their little heads and was gentle with them. He definitely has a lot of energy though and showed me how he works some of that off. Here are a few of their pictures from their morning with me.

Thanks mom, dad and grandma for helping out. I have to admit that I was a little nervous for two 7 weekers and a 3 year old, but they all did much better than I was anticipating! Through Christmas I got behind and just gave up on sneak peaks. Here are a few of my sessions I did throughout December and January. Sooooooooo behind! first post of many (I hope)

I am trying to get caught up from the little time I took off for the holidays. I have quite a few sneak peaks to get up so bear with me as I get them finished.

I loooooooooove newborns!

This little miss was just 6 days old when she came to see me! I had the pleasure of photographing her birth (I have slideshow to post once I find the time) as well. She was so perfect when she came in and slept most of the time. Here are a fw of my favorites of her perfect little parts!

I had the pleasure of photographing another Operation:Love ReUnited Session (actually there is one more to blog about and a few more in the next couple of weeks). This family was so much fun and their little man reminds me of my oldest. So silly and full or energy!
Anyway, I can really tell how much daddy is going to missed, but he has a wonderful family to come home to! This year will fly by!

I have had the pleasure of photographing one of these cuties twice before (the smallest little man) but this time, he brought his two older brothers along for the fun. They were so perfect and all smiled so nice. I could not have asked for a better bunch of boys! Thank you Katie for bringing all three out in the cold to have some fun in the studio. I hope they didn't eat their entire candy canes! Take a peak at these boys (pay attention to their wonderful eyes!)

Casey was a really good friend of mine in High School and, like most friendships, we grew apart after graduation. But, I am happy to say that we are starting to make our way back.
Well, she has the cutest red head ever and another one on the way! Here are some pictures from her maternity session (on her acutaly due date mind you!) Fun in the snow

I had a beautiful mom and daughter team come into my studio a couple of days ago. They came at the perfect time since it was snowing. We started inside, but moved outside towards the end for some fun in the snow. I love watching mothers and daughters together; there is such a bond and there are no words to describe it. I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

6 week old doll

Here is a proper sneak peak at Vincent's session. He was so very sweet and well behaved...he just did not want to sleep. He finally crashed once he was in his car seat. I did manage to get a lot of eye contact from this little cutie. Take a peak at just how sweet he is.

I am turning my computer off for the day so I don't work, but I had to post a little teaser for Jackie and John. Here is there six week old sweetie that is getting so big already! I had the pleasure of photographing these three last year around this time and boy have things changed. I forgot how nice it is to be able to sit a baby down and have them not move. These two little boys were sure busy, but all three of these kiddos did a great job. I managed to get a couple nice group shots, but am really happy with their individual ones. I love looking through my captures and seeing true personality instead of cheesy grins. Here are a few of their pictures. Mom and dad, keep watching for the rest of your proofs. Operation: Love ReUnited

I had my first Operation: Love ReUnited session this past weekend(www.oplove.org), and I could not have been blessed with a better family. They were so full of love and the boys were so well behaved. This will be dad's second deployment in the past 4 years and I am so glad that they chose me to help preserve some memories to help them through the next year apart. Here are a few from their special session.

Another ONE-derful session

Super cute

These two kiddos were so well mannered and sweet. I had a great time following them around their beautiful back yard. They were sure busy, but they had fun building, climbing, swinging and walking through the woods. Here are a couple of their pictures.

Easy peasy sibling session

These two made my job easy. They even had a bunch of people watching them and they still did everything they were asked to do without complaining at all. Thanks for the wonderful fall session.
Mom booked their session since her little man turned 9. We did some of each of them though and then had to get some of them together, too!

Another great family session

I love watching families together! I had another amazing family session on Sunday and I am so excited to post some of the pictures here. I am hoping to be completely caught up by Friday since I ahve a very buys weekend (actually a few very busy weekends.) I met up with Maurissa and her mom Heather in Lanesboro. We had a great morning wandering around and discovering a beautiful and well hidden town! Introducing baby Kylee

I have known Kylee's mom for 5 years through baby and me classes and was very happy to hear that she needed some photos of their newest addition. Introducing baby Savannah

She finally decided to come and meet the world. Mom came into my studio when she was 38 weeks pregnant and was sure she would have her little princess within a few days or at least by her due date..September 2, but this little stinker decided to wait until the 8th to make her debut. She is definitely perfect though. She started out sleeping and then decided to show us her eyes for most of the session. She never made a peep though. She was born to be photographed ;-)

Enough of my jabbering, on with the pictures! Here are just a few of my favorites.

Curly haired beauties!

I have been working on a few different things lately on top of my normal editing. I am almost done with the Christmas card designs for this year, but desided to take a break and work on some fantasy edits. With mini-sessions and full Holiday sessions coming up, I have been starting to make my Holiday card designs. Well, I needed some pictures to put in them...so I decided to get everything set-up and attempt more photo of my boys. Now, for some reason, I can photograph ANY child....but my own. I did manage to get some through fake smiles, "are we done yet"s, and a crying one year old. Here are a few of my favorites...and then of course some outtakes.

Mini Holiday Session information

Hello everyone. I wanted to tell you about the current special I am running. Since Christmas is right around the corner, I thought it would be appropriate to offer a mini-session meant to get that perfect family photo for your Holiday card. These sessions will only last about 20 minutes and will result in 7-12 proofs that will be put onto a password protected website for you to view. Along with the photos you will recieve 25 double sided 5x7 cards of your choice or your choice of three photos sized to 4x6 on a cd for making holiday cards through someone else. You get all of this for only $50. I will have my holiday cards for the season posted to my blog shortly so you can see what you have to choose from. I can always make a special one just for you for an additional $15. You can order additional cards (in sets of 25) and also other prints as well.

I will be offering this special for two days in my studio and then another two days at Stone Circle.
The days for in studio mini sessions will be October 5 from 9-3 and October 6 from 9-12:30 and 5-6. The days for the outdoor sessions will be September 28 from 9-3 and the 29 from 9-12:30 and 5-6.

There are only a limited number of sessions available, so make sure you book soon if you are interested. They will be booked every 30 minutes during the block of time, just email me or give a call to let me know which day and time works best.

If you are interested in a full session for your Christmas/Holiday portraits, I will be scheduling them through November 23, orders for cards need to be placed by December 1.

If you book within the next week, I will give you 15% off of any additional prints and cards you order. Hope all is well and to hear from you soon!

A Photographer's Dream

Little Samuel came into my studio this morning and he did an amazing job! He laid where we put him and smiled constantly! He was such a joy to be around and really started my day out well. We are back...

We made it back from our honeymoon safe and sound. Arizona was hot, but the view was amazing! I will share some wedding and honeymoon pictures soon.

We had a great few days away from it all, but came back to some sad news. We were starting to share the news that we were expecting our third child in January, but found out the day we got back home that her heart had stopped. We had little Caitlin Angelina on Tuesday, the 19th. She was 6.25 inches long and 3.7 ounces. We will miss our little angel everyday and will never forget her.

We are all trying to get life back in order right now. Our boys are slowly adjusting to being back home and Matt and I are getting back into the swing of work. Matt went back on Wednesday and I had my first session last Sunday and have four more this next week. Keep checking back for those sneak peaks!

This past weekend I got invited along on a hike with Katrina and Zach. We went to the spot where he proposed. It was fun and we were all full of sweat by the time we got to the rock. All in all it was a great experience and I was able to capture a lot of great moments. Here are some pictures from our morning hike! You will be seeing more of these wonderful people after their wedding in October!

I had so many plans to photograph this little one and the timing was never right. He finally came to Winona for a visit when I ahd my bridal shower and I took the opportuniy to take a couple of pictures.

Autumn in the summertime

I had a rolly polly 8 month old stop into the studio last week. She was so much fun to play with and gave some great simles with giggles and everything. It is always nice to have a happy baby to photography! She really made my job easy! Here are a couple pictures from her session.

Autumn is so adorable, I would love to see her back again (maybe for a smash the cake!) I will get your proofs to you soon. Thanks for bringing her in, she did a wonderful job! We made it the entire our with no tears.

I have known this little girl since she was born, but it was her first time in front of my camera. She did a great job and smiled very nice. I am sure it had nothing to do with the M+Ms we bribed her with ;-) Here is a little peak into our outdoor fun!
